The annual conference of the Society brings together scholars from all over the world to present the latest research on the Caribbean and its diasporas from a range of disciplines and across all the linguistic areas of the region.

Themes for panel sessions are circulated in the annual call for papers, but we also welcome abstract submissions for panels that fall outside the suggested themes. The call for papers is usually circulated in the autumn, with the deadline for abstract submissions in January. The annual conference falls on the Wednesday to the Friday of the last week of June / first week of July.

Highlights of the annual conference include:

  • multi-disciplinary panels presenting the latest research on the Caribbean and its diasporas
  • keynote lecture by eminent scholars in the field
  • plenary sessions on subjects of topical interest
  • presentation by a Caribbean arts practitioner (winner of the Bridget Jones award)
  • rum punch reception and conference dinners
